This is Session 4 of the Fall 2022 series of Learn Kiowa Zoom Sessions, launched by Dr. Redbird-Post, 2022 Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellow, in conjunction with LearnKiowa.org. Session 4 focused on phrases and words used in Kiowa prayers; strategies for teaching Kiowa language to early elementary-aged students (Kindergarten through 2nd grade); translation of a Kiowa prayer from the archives of Parker McKenzie; and continued practice with Kiowa prayer phrases.

Based on feedback from Kiowa Elders, Kiowa language learners, and the Kiowa Language Credentialing Board, these Learn Kiowa sessions will provide a variety of opportunities for those interested in learning and teaching Kiowa to gain experience and expand their proficiency in Kiowa language. These sessions will be offered on Wednesdays, weekly, beginning October 12 through December 28 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The agenda and syllabus are provided upon request.

LearnKiowa.org is a community-based, grassroots website launched by the Post Family and led by Dr. Redbird-Post with the goal of providing Kiowa language learners, interested Kiowa parents, and teachers of Kiowa children and students of all ages with an online archive of Kiowa language teaching and learning materials arranged by age group. Made possible by the First Nations Development Institute and the 2022 Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellowship.
